How do we raise kids who know how to spot racism, and who are confident enough to call it out? In this episode, child behaviour expert and parent coach, Carmen du Plooy, discusses the most valuable thing a parent can do to raise an anti-racist child. Outlining concrete steps parents can take, and how to be open to discussing racism with our children, this episode opens the way for productive discussion and teaching.
While 10 minutes is by no means sufficient to discuss this topic extensively, our hope is to help parents take a positive first step in raising their children to advocate for anti-racism.

In this episode, we discuss self-regulation and how to get there!
Self-regulation, or the ability to manage our emotions in healthy and constructive ways through the use of coping tools, has become a bit of a buzz word in child education and child care spheres. More and more parents are becoming aware of, and interested in helping their children learn how to manage their emotions before they have a meltdown or tantrum. In this episode, we discuss with an educational psychologist, Carla Richards, what self-regulation is, and most importantly the building block skills co-regulation. We discuss how parents can do this, why it is important and when to seek help.
More and more parents are aware of the need to coach their children emotionally rather than punishing displays of emotion, but often lack the knowledge for how to do so. If this sounds like you, this is the episode you need to listen to!
